Ultrasound Diagnostics (US)

One of the most effective diagnostic procedures is ultrasound examination, which experienced specialists of the Medical Center “Clinic of Reproductive Medicine of Dr. Ayzyatulova” - AIS perform using the new-generation Toshiba Xario device. The use of modern image formation technologies ensures exceptionally high visualization quality both in B-mode and in color Doppler modes.   The painless ultrasound procedure is recommended for patients of different ages, including pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, and is performed to establish the most accurate diagnosis and prescribe the correct treatment. High informativeness, absence of harm and discomfort for the patient make this procedure the best for examining most organs. In our clinic, the following types of ultrasound examinations are performed:

  • Ultrasound diagnostics of pelvic organs in women is performed transabdominally and transvaginally. Transvaginal ultrasound diagnostics can perform many diagnostic tasks: from detecting organic pathology of the uterus and adnexa to monitoring the follicular apparatus of the ovaries during infertility treatment, as well as diagnosing early pregnancy. In addition, under ultrasound control, follicle puncture is performed to retrieve oocytes during IVF cycles, as well as therapeutic manipulations - puncture of paraovarian cysts / ovarian cysts. For transabdominal ultrasound diagnostics (for virgin patients), the bladder must be well filled: 3-4 hours before the examination, drink 500-700 ml of any liquid. Preventive ultrasound is recommended once a year in the absence of complaints. If gynecological pathology is already detected, the frequency of examination will be determined by the doctor;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of the thyroid gland is performed with a high-frequency transducer. It is recommended when any formations are externally detected on the anterior surface of the neck, during pain and discomfort, as well as when signs of thyroid dysfunction appear. This examination is mandatory for those who previously had thyroid disease, and for healthy people living in environmentally unfavorable regions and industrial centers. Ultrasound of the thyroid gland is also recommended for women with breast pathology and gynecological problems. If indicated, fine-needle aspiration biopsy of thyroid pathological formations is performed followed by histological examination. The examination is performed without preparation. How often the patient should undergo ultrasound will be determined by the attending physician. Its frequency should not be less than once a year;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of the mammary glands is performed with a high-frequency transducer. If any changes in the structure of the breast are detected, pain occurs, discharge from the nipple appears, or its shape changes, urgent ultrasound should be performed as the first stage of diagnostic search. If indicated, fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the breast can be performed under ultrasound control, followed by cytological and pathohistological examination of the obtained material to establish the final (morphological) diagnosis. In the absence of complaints, ultrasound of the mammary glands is recommended at least once a year;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of pelvic organs in men is performed transabdominally and transrectally. During transabdominal ultrasound, the bladder must be well filled; for this, 3-4 hours before the examination, drink 500-700 ml of any liquid, and by the time of the examination, the patient should feel strong urges to urinate. Transabdominal examination includes inspection of the bladder, prostate, seminal vesicles, surrounding tissues, and regional lymph nodes. After the examination, the bladder is emptied, and an important indicator is determined - the volume of residual urine. During transrectal ultrasound diagnostics, diffuse and focal changes in the prostate gland, prostatic urethra, seminal vesicles, etc., are detected. Patients over 50 years old are recommended to undergo this examination once a year as a method of early detection of prostate cancer.
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of scrotal organs is performed with a high-frequency transducer to detect pathology of the testicles, their appendages, spermatic ducts, surrounding tissues, and regional lymph nodes. Indications for the examination are pain, changes in the appearance of the scrotum, and hemospermia (presence of blood in semen), which may be the first sign of malignant testicular lesion. In erectile dysfunction, ultrasound of the penis is performed;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of abdominal organs: assessment of the size, structure, and partially functional state of the liver, biliary tract, pancreas, spleen, major vessels; examination for the presence of space-occupying lesions, stones, etc. Ultrasound diagnostics is recommended in the morning on an empty stomach or 6-8 hours after eating. If indicated, liver biopsy can be performed under ultrasound control, followed by cytological and pathohistological examination of the obtained material to establish the final (morphological) diagnosis;
  • Ultrasound of the urinary system organs: assessment of the size, location of the kidneys, condition of the ureters and bladder, presence of additional formations in them;
  • Ultrasound in obstetrics (prenatal diagnostics) - screening examinations at all stages of pregnancy, including Dopplerometry, cervicometry.
